StoryPlace.me is a real-world video hunt where you can discover hidden video stories as you walk around your city. Stories can be unlocked as you approach the location where they have been placed. These stories can be part of public collections on a variety of topics and you can discover and follow collections throughout a city. Or you can find stories from friends or family shared only with you or other friends and family members.
You can use StoryPlace.me to:
- Share stories with relatives about a place which may hold some family history e.g. where you grandparents first met
- Save a location-triggered message for a loved one e.g. place it at their home or work, along their bus route, so they can discover it the next time they are there
- Learn about the history of city landmarks through clips from professional documentaries as you walk around a city
- Or create your own ideas for sharing or receiving video stories in particular places around your city or out in the world.
To locate and receive videos, users must have a phone running Android 2.1 or higher with the StoryPlace.me application installed. Anyone can create videos using the http://storyplace.me website. You will only be notified of stories from collections you explicitly follow or video stories your friends share with you, so there’s no need to worry about being bombarded as you run to catch the bus.
StoryPlace.me is a public beta from the Motorola Mobility Inc. Applied Research Center.
